e.g., I was playing a $1-$2 no limit cash match at a local casino. I came in holding 2, 9 unsuited on the dealer marker, so I could see a little fun. Flop came down A-A-4. A player in starting position placed a $15 bet. 2 entrants drop out and it was now my turn. I really should have dropped out, but something felt a tiny bit off. I identified this contender as a weak-tight player, and typically if he held the best hand he would only check, so I called.

The turn arrived with a 7, meaning it was a A-A-4-7. My competitor placed an additional bet of $20. I debated for a while, but decided to re-raise a further $30thirty dollars on top of his $20. He dropped out and I won the cash.

Wagering at late spot gives you an insight into where you sit by seeing how other gamblers react and bet. On the flip side, players at early position might use their poker position to check-raise the late positioned competitors and trap them later at the end.
