NL Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker competitor on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to pickup whatever he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the negative comments from other people kill his goal of being one of the best poker competitors on the planet.
He started competing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a teaching period and coming away with a win was not a regular thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he destroyed many of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an undying passion for poker. He states that he’s learning every single day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes mistakes in each session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.
Although Ivey has won some big tournaments, he favors destroying cash games on a normal basis.
