No-Limit Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker contender in the world by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wished to pickup anything he could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the adverse comments from other people destroy his dream of being one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.

Phil started playing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a learning period and winning was not a normal thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved 2 final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he defeated a number of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an undying passion for poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every single day and is incredibly humble about his accomplishments. He admits to making mistakes in each session of poker and always strives to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a regular basis.
