NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker competitor in the world by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching turning 1. His papa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to discover whatever he could about the game. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not let the adverse comments from other people annihilate his ambition of being one of the greatest poker players in the world.
Phil began playing seriously after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a teaching experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and a continuing passion for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s learning every day and is very humble about his success. He knows he makes blunders every single game of poker and always strives to get better.
Although Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a normal basis.
