NL Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker competitor on the planet by most of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching turning one. His papa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to discover everything he could about the game. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not let the negative feedback from other people kill his goal of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.

He began playing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a learning period and coming away with a win was not a common thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and a continuing love for the game of poker. He states that he’s learning every single day and is very abashed about his achievements. He admits to making blunders in each game of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Even though Phil has won some large tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a normal basis.
