[ English ]

Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker player on the planet by most of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa showed him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to discover whatever he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely would tell his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the adverse comments from other people destroy his goal of becoming one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

He started playing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win was not a normal thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP when he made two final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he defeated many of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an eternal love for the game of poker. Phil states that he is learning every single day and is very abashed about his accomplishments. He admits to making errors every single game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he favors winning money games on a regular basis.
