NL Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker competitor on the planet by most of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His papa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to pickup anything he could about poker. He routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not allow the negative feedback from other people annihilate his goal of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.
He started competing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a learning opportunity and winning wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he destroyed many of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his success to dedication and an undying passion for poker. Phil states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is very abashed about his success. Phil knows he makes errors in each game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.
Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he favors destroying cash games on a normal basis.
