NL Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker competitor on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His grandfather taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to learn anything he possibly could about the game. Phil would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not let the negative comments from others kill his dream of becoming one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

He started competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a teaching period and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed a number of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his success to dedication and an undying passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every single day and is very humble about his achievements. He admits to making blunders in each session of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Even though Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a normal basis.
