NL Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker player in the world by many of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching turning 1. His grandfather taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to discover whatever he could about poker. Phil routinely would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not allow the adverse feedback from other people annihilate his goal of being one of the strongest poker players in the world.
Phil started playing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a teaching opportunity and winning wasn’t a normal thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he destroyed quite a few of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an undying love for the game of poker. He says that he is learning every day and is very humble about his achievements. Phil admits to making errors every single game of poker and always strives to get better.
Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he favors destroying cash games on a normal basis.
