No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker competitor in the world by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa showed him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to learn anything he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the adverse feedback from other people annihilate his goal of becoming one of the greatest poker players on the planet.
He started competing seriously after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a learning period and coming away with a win was not a common outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved 2 final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he defeated many of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to discipline and a continuing passion for poker. He states that he’s learning every single day and is incredibly abashed about his success. Phil knows he makes mistakes in each session of poker and always strives to get better.
Although Phil has won some large tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a normal basis.
