NL Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker player on the planet by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching the age of one. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to learn every little thing he possibly could about the game. He routinely would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the detrimental feedback from other people destroy his goal of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.
Phil began competing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a teaching experience and winning wasn’t a common thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he defeated a number of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an eternal passion for poker. He says that he’s learning every single day and is very abashed about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes mistakes every single game of poker and always aspires to get better.
Although Ivey has won some big tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a regular basis.
