No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker player on the planet by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching turning 1. His papa taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to learn whatever he could about poker. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the negative feedback from others destroy his goal of becoming one of the best poker competitors in the world.

He started competing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a learning period and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he destroyed a number of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and a continuing passion for poker. He says that he is picking up skills every single day and is quite humble about his success. Phil knows he makes mistakes in each session of poker and always strives to get better.

Although Phil has won some large tournaments, he favors winning money games on a normal basis.
