Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker player in the world by many of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to discover whatever he could about the game. He routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the negative comments from other people destroy his ambition of being one of the strongest poker players on the planet.
He started playing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he defeated a number of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and a continuing love for the game of poker. He states that he is learning every single day and is quite humble about his success. Phil knows he makes blunders every single game of poker and always strives to improve.
Even though Ivey has won some large tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a regular basis.
