No-Limit Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker competitor on the globe by many of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching the age of one. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to pickup whatever he could about the game. He routinely would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not allow the adverse comments from others destroy his goal of being one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.
He started playing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a learning experience and winning was not a common outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he defeated quite a few of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to dedication and a continuing passion for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s learning every single day and is quite abashed about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes mistakes in each session of poker and always aspires to improve.
Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a normal basis.
