NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker competitor on the planet by most of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before his first birthday. His grandfather taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to learn everything he could about poker. Phil routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not let the adverse feedback from other people annihilate his goal of becoming one of the best poker players in the world.

Phil began playing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a teaching period and winning was not a regular thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he defeated quite a few of the better known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to dedication and a continuing passion for poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is quite abashed about his achievements. Phil knows he makes errors in each game of poker and always strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big tournaments, he likes winning money games on a normal basis.
