NL Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker contender in the world by most of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching the age of 1. His grandpa introduced him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wished to pickup everything he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely would tell his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil did not let the adverse feedback from other people kill his goal of becoming one of the best poker players in the world.
He began playing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he defeated quite a few of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his success to dedication and a continuing passion for poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is incredibly humble about his accomplishments. He admits to making blunders every single session of poker and always aspires to improve.
Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a regular basis.
