NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker competitor on the planet by many of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching turning 1. His papa introduced him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to discover everything he could about poker. Phil would tell his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the negative feedback from others annihilate his dream of being one of the best poker competitors in the world.
Phil started competing intently after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a teaching period and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and a continuing love for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s learning every day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. Phil admits to making mistakes every single session of poker and always strives to improve.
Although Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he favors winning money games on a regular basis.
