NL Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker competitor on the globe by most of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching turning 1. His grandfather taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wished to discover whatever he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not let the negative feedback from other people kill his dream of being one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.

He started playing seriously after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a teaching experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a common outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he destroyed a number of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to discipline and an immeasurable love for the game of poker. Phil says that he is learning every day and is incredibly humble about his success. He admits to making errors every single game of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Even though Phil has won some large tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a regular basis.
