No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker contender in the world by most of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching the age of one. His papa taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to pickup anything he could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the detrimental comments from others destroy his goal of being one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.

He started playing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a teaching period and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his success to dedication and an immeasurable love for the game of poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is incredibly humble about his accomplishments. He admits to making blunders every single session of poker and always strives to improve.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some large tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a normal basis.
