No-Limit Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker competitor in the world by most of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His papa showed him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to discover whatever he possibly could about poker. Phil would tell his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the adverse feedback from other people annihilate his goal of being one of the best poker competitors on the planet.
Phil began competing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a teaching experience and winning was not a regular thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated quite a few of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to discipline and a continuing love for the game of poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every day and is very humble about his achievements. Phil knows he makes mistakes in each game of poker and always aspires to improve.
Even though Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a normal basis.
