NL Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker player on the planet by many of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to learn whatever he could about the game. Phil routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the detrimental feedback from other people kill his dream of becoming one of the best poker players on the planet.

Phil began competing seriously after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a teaching period and coming away with a win was not a common outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP where he made 2 final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he destroyed a number of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and a continuing passion for poker. Phil states that he is picking up skills every day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. He knows he makes blunders every single session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he favors destroying cash games on a regular basis.
