No-Limit Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker contender on the planet by many of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching the age of one. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to discover every little thing he possibly could about poker. Phil would tell his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the adverse comments from others annihilate his dream of becoming one of the best poker competitors on the planet.
Phil started playing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a teaching experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed a number of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an eternal passion for the game of poker. He says that he is picking up skills every day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. He knows he makes mistakes every single game of poker and always aspires to get better.
Although Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a regular basis.
