No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker competitor in the world by quite a few of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching the age of one. His grandfather taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to discover everything he possibly could about the game. He would tell his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the detrimental feedback from other people kill his ambition of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.
He began competing seriously after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a learning experience and winning wasn’t a normal thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he defeated quite a few of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an undying passion for poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every single day and is quite abashed about his success. He admits to making errors every single session of poker and always aspires to improve.
Even though Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a normal basis.
